On Wednesday, October 6th, we hosted our 22nd golf tournament – the Mike McCann Charity Golf Tournament. It was a beautiful day to raise money for charity!
Our sponsors and 288 golfers joined us at the Meadows Golf & Country Club, where they were greeted with a registration prize, enjoyed coffee from Tim Hortons, lunch from Subito and listened to music from KiSS 105.3 before heading out onto the course.
Once the rounds began, golfers had the opportunity to win a variety of prizes on the course, including closest to the pin, hole in one, and more. When they returned, our evening began with silent auction, dinner and live auction. This year, our silent auction had over 90 items, including a large selection of sports memorabilia, getaway packages, local items and more. Dinner was a huge hit with a selection of food trucks, including Angry Dragonz, Biagio’s Italian Kitchen, Big D’s Dog House, Bonitas Cantina and BeaverTails. Later in the evening, we also had a delicious BBQ. Following dinner, the evening festivities began kicking it off with our popular MC and auctioneer Ryan Watson, raising the bids for our live auction items.
This year, we raised a total of $1,047,925.00, an amount that far exceeded any expectations we had! 100% of the amount raised will go towards supporting local charities within our communities. These charities include Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa, The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Ottawa Food Bank, Burlington Foundation, Boys and Girls Club Hamilton-Halton, Habitat for Humanity, Sun Youth Organization, Christie Lake Kids, Boys and Girls Club London, Old Mission Brewery, and many more.
A large portion of the money raised was due to our sponsors.
Being able to support our communities has always been a focus of ours as a company. Contributing over $1 million this year will go a long way in helping these local charities recuperate from what we can only imagine has been a stressful time.
