Wondering when is the best time to head down to the Burlington area for a visit? Whether you plan to visit in the spring, summer, fall, or winter – you’ll find plenty of things to do with ample shopping, events, and culinary feats to enjoy at any time of the year. Take a look at just some of the things that you can get up to in this bustling city.
Springtime
Warmer weather and longer days are always a delight in Burlington. The Centro Farmer’s Market opens in early May to bring local farmers to the downtown core each Sunday. And the largest free music festival – the Sound of Music – brings sights and sounds to the city for nine straight days in June with top-performing musical acts of today and yesterday.
Summer Events
Come summertime, residents and tourists alike take to the downtown core and the beautiful lakefront park to enjoy a variety of events and sights. Kicking off two months of none stop fun is Burlington’s Canada Day event on July 1st that features fireworks and a mass of fun activities all weekend long at Spencer Smith Park. You’ll also find the Burlington Food Truck Festival, the Jazz Festival, Children’s Festival, the Butter Tart Festival, and the largest Rib Fest in all of Canada each summer. For those trying to stay fit amongst all the food fests, there’s also “Fit in the Core” an open-air fitness class every Sunday from June to September. And if you need a low-key night to recover, you can get cozy every Thursday in August to catch a movie under the stars at one of Burlington’s parks.
Fall
Fall is the perfect time to put on a scarf and hat and head down to the Bronte Creek Provincial Park to take a guided walk and see all the changing colours of the season. Harvest Festival at Springridge Farm also kicks off on September 23rd and runs through to October 29th. So, you can get a head start on your pumpkin selection or just enjoy a wagon ride at the farm.
Winter
Even when the weather dips below freezing, Burlington is still buzzing. There are plenty of tobogganing hills to enjoy and a number of public skating rinks as well. Bronte Creek Park is also a family favourite during the fall with climbing structures and slides for the kids. Around Christmas, you can catch the Festival of Lights that lights up the waterfront for five weeks, and the Taste of Burlington that showcases the city’s best mouth-watering dishes.
As you can see, there’s no best time to visit Burlington since the city always has something to do and see.
