Hamilton is much more than Canada’s steel city — it’s a town that’s steeped in natural beauty, outdoor adventures, and plenty of events to keep you busy. We’ve got the low down below on why to be excited for Hamilton’s 2019 (and how you can make the most of it).
Hamilton Kid’s Fest
The wintertime can be particularly hard when your kids are cooped up inside with so much energy. Thankfully, you can take them to the Hamilton Kid’s Fest and have them let out some steam — Canada’s largest inflatable festival designed to let your little ones run around and have some fun. They can jump on bouncy castles, enjoy rides, get crafty, and much more. This event runs from Feb 16th to Feb 18th, 2019. Visit their website to learn more.
Hamilton Boat, Fishing and Outdoor Show
With lush natural landscapes and a reputation for being the waterfall capital of the world, this city is ideal for any outdoor adventurers. If you or someone in the family loves to head out on the boat or go fishing, plan a day at the Hamilton Boat, Fishing, and Outdoor Show. From March 1st to 13th, you can view over 100,000 square feet of intriguing exhibits and special attractions, all in the name of outdoor adventure. There’s no better way to forget about the winter than by dreaming of the warm summer that’s just ahead.
Cirque Du Soleil – Corteo
If it’s been a while since you’ve enjoyed a romantic night out with your special someone, Cirque Du Soleil may be just what you need. These spectacular shows will make you feel like you’ve been transported back in time, with mind-bending performances that’ll leave you more than impressed. The Corteo performance is running at the First Ontario Centre from May 22nd to May 26th, 2019. Be sure to book well in advance as these shows tend to sell quickly!
It’s Your Festival
To celebrate the culture and diversity of Hamilton, It’s Your Festival will be hosted on the July 1st long weekend. This free event will include folk art, rides, live entertainment, and an exciting parade of cultures.
Hamilton Fringe Festival
Love the theatre? Then don’t miss out on the annual Fringe Festival happening from July 18th to July 28th. This is a great way to support the arts with over 50 companies showcasing music, dancing, comedy, and drama. Plus, tickets are extremely affordable, priced no higher than $12 at the door. So get out to show your support for the arts while enjoying a night out.
Supercrawl on James St N
If there’s one event not to miss, it’s the Supercrawl along James St which was ranked last year among the Top 100 festivals/events in Ontario by the FEO. The Supercrawl incorporates art, fashion, performance art, crafts, food, and a boatload of fun. It runs on the long weekend of September 13th to 16th.
