Another year, another amazing Week Of Giving!
For the week of December 10th-14th, CLV Group and InterRent REIT participated in the annual Week Of Giving. Each day during the week of giving is dedicated to a certain cause of charity supporting holiday initiatives.
This year, we supported a variety of charities directly impacting lives in our communities.
Angel Tree – Youth Services Bureau
The Angel Tree program, organized by the Youth Services Bureau in Ottawa, allows generous volunteers to choose a star on our tree with a child’s name and age on it. Each child has a “wish list” on the back of their star that sponsors can use to purchase items and create a magical Christmas morning. Many of the items suggested are toys, books, pyjamas, and art supplies.
This year, CLV Group and InterRent “adopted” and provided holiday gifts to 13 children from newborns to 7 years old across the city, some who are from our very own communities.
Fill-a-Fiat Food Drive – Local Food Banks
This year, CLV Group and InterRent followed the annual tradition and held a site-wide food drive to assist with food collection efforts.
With the support of residents across the region as well as employees and staff, we challenge ourselves to Fill-a-Fiat, with all donations going to the local food back. We had participants in Ottawa, Montreal, Aylmer, Burlington, Mississauga, London, Guelph and Hamilton.
In Ottawa, we were able to donate crucial food and supplies in support of The Ottawa Food Bank and all of their agencies.
Holiday Hampers – Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
The Holiday Hamper program, organized by The Boys And Girls Club of Ottawa supports families during the holiday season that may not have the means to purchase gifts for their families this holiday season.
This year, CLV Group and InterRent sponsored 9 families, including one family of 9! Together, we were able to provide gifts, supplies, food and clothing to several families in our communities to ensure they have a bright and warm holiday season.
Half Day Of Giving
The wild card in our Week Of Giving – the half day supports whatever charity employees choose!
This year, our Energy Management team supported Habitat for Humanity by helping out at their main facility for the day. We also had staff assist at the Gatineau SPCA by lending a hand wherever they were needed and our Montreal team volunteered by gift wrapping at the mall, with all donations going to Make A Wish Quebec!
Colour For A Cause – Make A Wish Foundation
In support of the Make A Wish Foundation, Colour For A Cause allows children (and adults!) across all regions to colour holiday themed sheets for fun. With each submission, we donate $1.00 to the Make A Wish Foundation, directly impacting children in our community to help fulfill their wishes this holiday season.
Clothing Drive – The Salvation Army and Mission Bon Accueil
A new addition this year, our LIV Apartments team encouraged staff and residents to donate clothing to support The Salvation Army. The organization accepted new, used, as well as damaged clothing. We saw an incredible turn out with an overwhelming amount of donations. Our Montreal office also encouraged staff to donate clothing, with all donations supporting Sun Youth Organization.
The Caring And Sharing Exchange
Hosted at the Horticulture building at Lansdowne Park, The Caring And Sharing Exchange aims to help families in need receive supplies for the perfect Holiday dinner. Volunteers and sponsors from various companies and communities across Ottawa came together to create the ultimate assembly line to collect items like potatoes, carrots, butter, cream, cookies, stuffing, a whole turkey and more into boxes for families in need.
Volunteers for CLV Group were posted at the potato station while others in the group went around to other stations collecting goods. The morning of giving was completed with a silent auction with items donated from various organizations.
Thank-You To All Who Supported!
We are fortunate to work for a company with such a strong dedication to charity, especially around the holidays. Giving back, even in little bits, helps people in our communities tremendously.
Together we can do what we can to make the holidays a little brighter for those in need.
