On Tuesday, November 13th, 2018, the Energy Management team at CLV Group and InterRent REIT held their first ever and first annual Energy Hunt at Forest Ridge Apartments.
The Energy Hunt is part of a larger initiative to help educate staff on how to identify inefficiencies at their respective properties and how to deal with them properly. The ultimate goal is to help improve every efficiency among our properties as well as reduce our overall carbon footprint.
Maintenance staff from all over the Ottawa & Gatineau region gathered at Forest Ridge for an afternoon of energy hunting. The session began with an overview from our Certified Energy Manger, who spoke to the group about what Energy Management is and how to spot basic inefficiencies.
The group was then divided into teams of two with staff from other regions. They were then challenged to use the 2-hour time-span to complete an energy audit among the entire property of Forest Ridge from lobbies, to amenity spaces, to boiler rooms and more.
Two hours later, the teams came back with their extensive findings. Some of the suggestions made included re-installing insulation in some areas, repairing venting issues, setting timers on common area lights and installing a water fountain in the fitness area to reduce water bottle waste, and more!
CLV Group and InterRent are excited to be at the forefront of energy efficiency for multi-family residential buildings and aim to continue educating staff and residents on energy savings measures for years to come.
