The end of summer may be edging closer, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to end! There are plenty of activities that are going on this August and September that will let you soak up every last minute of the warm weather in Burlington. So be sure to check out these five upcoming events so you can maximize on the good weather before the summer wraps up.
Garden Music Nights
Don’t miss this yearly musical tradition with an impressive lineup of award-winning jazz and blues musicians taking to the Hendrie Park Stage. Here you can enjoy a mix of jazz, blues, country, and roots music every Wednesday until September 5th running from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at the Royal Botanical Gardens. Even with its official kick-off date starting back in May, this August and September you can still catch top performers like Kimya Hypolite, Crystal Shawanda, Steven Taetz, Jordan John, Eliza Pope, and Justin Saladino on the stage. Best of all, the event is free with your RBC admission or membership pass!
Taste of Burlington
For two full weeks starting Sunday, August 12th, various restaurants across Burlington will be offering delicious prix-fixe menus for customers to sample and enjoy. Get out and visit the 24 participating restaurants around town as they dish up a unique culinary flair for lunch and dinner. You can find the full list of restaurants here, but to give you a sneak peak, favourites like Barque Smokehouse, Barra Fion Tapas & Barrel, SB Prime, Table 34 Resto-bar, and The Water St. Cooker are on the list of this year’s top participants.
Canada’s Largest Ribfest
If you love ribs as much as we do, then don’t miss out on this year’s favourite summer event. On labour day weekend — August 31st until September 3rd, starting at 11am, Burlington hosts the largest Ribfest in Canada at the Spencer Smith Park. Enjoy mouth-watering, finger-licking ribs, ice cold beverages, and live entertainment from a line up of emerging artists. This has been one of southern Ontario’s favourite fest for years, so make sure you get there early!
38th Annual Terry Fox Run For Cancer
On September 13th get out and spend a fun-filled afternoon with your family and friends supporting a great cause at the annual Burlington Terry Fox Run for Cancer. This non-competitive family-friendly event starts at 9am where participants can run, walk, or rollerblade together to fundraise. Afterwards, they’ll be serving up some free food, live music, and other fun activities throughout the day.
Harvest Festival
When the leaves begin to change, and temperatures slowly dip, get out and celebrate the beginning of the fall season at the Harvest Festival. Bring the kids along to watch pumpkins get hurled into the air while sipping on some hot apple. There’ll also be pie eating contests, pony rides, zucchini car races, and live music from the Marlin James Band. The event kicks off on Saturday, September 22nd and Sunday, September 24th at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
