The first 24 hours in your new apartment are important. Not only is this your first impression of your home, but it will set the tone for the rest of the time you spend there. Make the most of your first day in your new home so that you can enjoy the rest of your time there!
Do a Onceover
Your CLV Group home will be cleaned top to bottom before you move in, but it is always a good idea to do a quick onceover before your begin bringing your furniture inside. Give hard to reach places an extra wipe if needed, so that you will not have to deal with the hassle of reaching over furniture once you have everything organized.
Start with Your Furniture
Consider bringing all of your furniture into your apartment, and assembling them in the rooms you need them in before you bring in all of your boxes and accessories. This will help keep you organized, plus you’ll have more space to assemble furniture! If you do not have time to build all of your core furniture pieces, place them against a wall in their corresponding rooms so that they are out of the way. Try to at least build the beds so that you have a nice place to sleep at the end of your first day!
Start with your furniture and then organize your boxes so that you can keep track of where everything is.
Organize Your Boxes + Keep Track of Your Essentials
Like your furniture, place all boxes in the rooms where they will need to be unpacked, so that you stay organized and know where everything is going. This will also help you tackle one room at a time, instead of sorting through boxes all in one room later on. Make sure you know where your essentials are so that you can have them on hand during the first few days of unpacking. These items may include toiletries, coffee, first aid supplies and more! Consider using our “Open me First” checklist to help you know what to pack, and what you should open first.
Get to Know Your Neighbours
Here at CLV Group, we love to host resident events for you to meet and mingle with your neighbours, but you can get a head start on your own! Take a walk down the hall, chat with fellow residents in the lobby, take your pup to the dog run if your property has one, and try introducing yourself to your new community.
Take a break and consider taking a walk down the hall or around the property and introduce yourself to your new neighbours.
Tackle One Room at a Time
If you still have time during the day, try to finish unpacking at least one room. Whether you get everything out of boxes for the kitchen or finish organizing the living room, tackle one room at time to keep moving at a steady and organized pace.
Wishing you a wonderful first night in your CLV Group apartment.
