CLV Group prides itself of giving back to our communities throughout the entire year. During the holiday season, our charitable activities are in full swing!
Each year, Head Office and site locations participate in a Week of Giving, with each day benefiting a different charity.
Week of Giving
Angel Tree – Monday December 11th
Stars are placed on the tree at reception with names of children that are less fortunate. Each star includes a name, age, description of the child and suggested items that this child would benefit from. This year, we had 16 stars! All gifts are provided to the Youth Services Bureau.
Thank you to all of the employees who teamed up to provide these children with special items this holiday season.
Fill-a-Fiat – Tuesday December 12th
Head Office and site locations participated in a food drive from December 1st – 19th. Thank you so much to all the employees and residents that provided donations! The items received form each region are donated to the local food bank. The Ottawa sites donated a total of 645 lbs to the Ottawa Food Bank.
Participating sites: Head Office, Avalon Park, 860 Blackthorne, 218 MacLaren, 341 Flora, Forest Ridge, 335 Metcalfe, 225 MacLaren, LIV Apartments, Rosemount Apartments, The Lakeshore Club, Avalon on the Parkway, Auburn Park, Riverview Apartments, Lakeshore Apartments and 67 Church.
Holiday Hampers – Wednesday December 13th
Organized by the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa, CLV Group participates in the Holiday Hamper Program. . We received two families, one of five and one of seven. Our Recruiting Team and Marketing Team sponsored the families to provide them with items to open on Christmas Morning. This included toys for each child, gifts for the parents, along with essentials such as toiletries, bedding and more.
Half a Day of Giving – Thursday December 14th
CLV Group encourages employees to give back to the community where they can. As part of this initiative, we provide all employees with the opportunity to spend half a day to give back to a charity. This year, we had employees participate in various acts of kindness including volunteering time at an animal shelter.
Colour for a Cause – Friday December 15th
Colour for a Cause sheets were available at all site locations. For each sheet submitted, CLV Group donates $1 to the Make A Wish Foundation. Through Colour for a Cause, we were able to donate $1000 to the organization!
Caring and Sharing Exchange
Hosted at the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, various companies get together in the morning to help pack boxes full of essential items for a holiday dinner. This includes onions, potatoes, carrots, etc. Each box is then delivered that afternoon to families in need.
Resident Events
In addition to the Week of Giving, our sites held a variety of holiday related events.
Riviera Appartements in Aylmer, Quebec hosted a holiday potluck. Residents were invited to join the staff for an evening of delicious holiday related foods from different cultures, cookie decorating, warm drinks, and of course some cookie sampling.
Hamilton Landing in Trenton held a coffee and muffin morning for residents to grab some sweet treats and get into the festive spirit.
Avalon Park in Ottawa hosted an afternoon with Santa! Residents got together for some cookies, hot chocolate and of course photos with Santa. Pets were also welcome to join the party and get some photos with Santa.
Forest Ridge in Ottawa help a holiday referral party. Residents were invited to bring a guests to stop by for an evening of snacks, drinks and the chance to win some prizes.
Maison Hamilton in Cote Saint-Luc hosted a holiday party with baked good, warm drinks and an overall festive time.
LIV Apartments in Ottawa hosted an ugly Christmas sweater party with snacks and drinks. Each resident was asked to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Ottawa Food Bank.
The Lakeshore Club and Rosemount Apartments in Burlington held Holiday Tree decorating events, where residents were encouraged to gather in the lobbies to spread some holiday cheer while decorating their community trees!
