This year marked the 20th and final year for the Annual Ron Kolbus Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, and it was certainly an event to remember! The sold out tournament was held on Thursday, September 14th at the Meadows Golf and Country Club in Ottawa, ON and consisted of 288 golfers, 335 attendees and 240 sponsors.
The day began with a barbeque lunch to fuel our players before they headed out to the course to play a round of golf. KiSS 105.3 was on site providing music in the morning to get the players ready, and Tim Horton’s was there with coffee and smile cookies. Following the game, participants joined us inside the club house where they could partake in a silent auction, and purchase tickets for a raffle draw and a 50/50 draw. M.C. Ken Evraire, former CLF player, provided an inspirational speech on his journey in the CFL and how he wouldn’t have been able to achieve his goals without his experience with Boys and Girls Clubs. As dinner was wrapping up, the live auction portion of the evening began.
For 20 years, organizations and charities have come together for a friendly golf tournament and auctions to help raise money for local charities. All money raised leading up to the event and throughout the day is donated to local charities including The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity NCR, The Olde Forge Community Research Centre, Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa, Easter Seals Ontario, The Snowsuit Fund, Kidney Research Centre, Christie Lake Kids and more. This year we raised the largest amount to date, coming in at $600,000! In the 20 years that the Annual Ron Kolbus Memorial Charity Golf Tournament has taken place, we have raised a grand total of $3,284,500! We know that the founder of this tournament, our dear friend Ron Kolbus, would be thrilled to see how the tournament has grown and evolved over 20 years, and would be so proud of the contributions that our participants and sponsors have made to support our communities.
As the Annual Ron Kolbus Memorial Charity Golf Tournament has come to an end, we couldn’t be more proud of how our community and sponsors have joined us over the years to provide their generous support and donations.
Thank you once again to all the sponsors, participants and volunteers who attended. This event wouldn’t be the same without you and we are greatly appreciative of your continued support. Although this year marked the final year for the Annual Ron Kolbus Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, CLV Group strongly believes in giving back to the community and will continue to support local charities in new and exciting ways throughout Ontario and Quebec.
