Winterlude is one of North America’s greatest winter festivals. It’s the place to be to truly embrace winter fun with the whole family. And this year is bound to be one of the greatest celebrations yet – it’s Canada’s 150th birthday, so you can expect an epic celebration like no other! There’s no better place to be this winter than in Ottawa where our nation’s capital is set to start the celebrations off with a bang.
Here are just a few of the highlights to look forward to at Ottawa’s Winterlude 2017:
150th Year of Shared Moments
During this exhibition, you can take at peak into Canada’s past as youth from across the country display snapshots of memories and defining moments of our history through photographs that will be placed inside frozen ice sculptures.
Canada 150 Maze
Throughout Winterlude, you can get lost in the all-new Canada 150 maze. You can enjoy an afternoon with the kids winding along this impressive icy display. You can find this at the Jacques-Cartier Park under the Dream of Canada exhibit.
Skate on The Sens Rink of Dreams
Strap on your skates and glide along the Sens Rink of Dreams – a popular outdoor activity where you can get in some exercise and then enjoy some delicious, local Beavertails (heck, yes!). There’s no greater way to celebrate winter in Canada!
Super Slides
Bring the family down for some thrills and fun at the super slides located in Jacques-Cartier Park. You can zoom down one of the four slides – the Chinook tube slide, Iceberg and Glacier group slide, the Kiddie slide, or the new special edition, Canada 150 slide. If you’re looking for an icy rush, this is the place to be.
The Grand Pizzeria: Outdoor Ice Bar
Looking for a fun time out with just the adults? Head over to The Grand Pizzeria for a few cocktails served from a bar made entirely of ice. You can warm up by the fire pits, or even next to the wood-fired pizza oven as you indulge in some seasonal food and beverages.
