When you’ve had a long day, the last thing you probably want to do is prepare a meal. Don’t worry, we’ve put together a list of some meal ideas to help save you time at the end of the day, and they can all be made in the comfort of your CLV Group apartment.
Crockpots
Anything in a crockpot is a great idea. Prep the items the night before or in the morning and let the crockpot do the work. You’ll have a meal prepared by the time you get home, and one that is likely to last you multiple nights! There are so many recipes out there that use crockpots; it doesn’t just have to be your typical roast. Try making soup, pulled pork, chicken, fajitas or pasta, the options are endless.
Grill
A cast iron skillet grill pan does the trick! Add a piece of chicken, some veggies or corn and you have a fresh and quick summer meal. You can even get outdoors and cook a meal on your buildings barbecue if it has one. Speak with your Customer Care Coordinator for more details!
Pasta
Pasta is a go-to for many. There are SO many variations of pasta that it doesn’t have to only consist of noodles and sauces. Add some of your favourite veggies, meat that you may have on hand, and you have a quick and easy dish that’s ready in no time! Another popular twist on pasta is veggie pasta using zucchini or carrots through a spiralizer – a light alternative and super easy to whip up.
Grilled Cheese
This doesn’t have to be your childhood grilled cheese with cheese slices and white bread. Grilled Cheese has become a huge craze with combinations like avocado, cheese and bacon, or apple and cheese.
Pizza
Homemade pizza is always a hit, especially if you have children around. You don’t necessarily have to make the dough from scratch, the deli section of grocery stores usually have fresh dough for you to roll out and cook, or even buy the dough pre-cooked! Pizza is so versatile, you could add ingredients that you have to use up in the fridge (meat, veggies), make a breakfast pizza or pick up some easy ingredients on your way home.
Salad
Easy and refreshing after a long day and can be as simple as greens and veggies. If you have extra ingredients on hand, it’s easy to throw them in and mix it up with different ingredient options.
Stir-fry
An option that creates a filling dinner with leftovers. Stir-fry’s don’t have to include a ton of ingredients and cook for a long period of time, you can make a veggie and rice stir-fry in as little as 10-15 minutes, especially if you’re using softer veggies to begin with.
