It’s been a long, chilly wait, but we’ve made it. It’s finally patio season! Yes, after a frigid, snowy nine months, we can finally emerge from our hibernation and confidently request that we sit outside on the patio to enjoy our meal with some sunshine. In celebration, we’ve put together our favourite restaurant patios in Burlington.
1. Beaver and Bulldog
Two words: waterfront patio. Need we say more? As if you need any more convincing, this Lakeshore gem is serving up seasonal comfort food like kimchi poutine, award-winning wings (ask for Maple BBQ sauce – you’ll never regret it), turkey/avocado naan wraps, and pork schnitzel with mushroom gravy that tastes better than Oma made it. After dark, the nightlife is great here, too.
2. Spencer’s at the Waterfront
Spencer’s is also located on the Burlington lakefront, but it’s an upscale steak and seafood restaurant. This is the place to go to celebrate that big promotion or personal milestone. They’re known for their mint julep which you absolutely have to try, but nothing says patio like rosé wine sangria. To be on the safe side, reserve a table.
3. Emma’s Backporch
The name alone is evocative of those lazy Muskoka summer days, and the atmosphere of Emma’s Backporch doesn’t disappoint. Come for the cozy atmosphere, stay for the REAL 20 oz. pint. Emma’s specializes in comfort food: pulled pork, chicken parm, corned beef, and more. PLUS, 67 cent wings every time the Leafs play – too bad that will never be in July!
4. Downtown Bistro & Grill
The vibe of this classy restaurant on Elizabeth Street radiates to the patio, where you can enjoy delectable fresh food like beetroot and goat cheese salad or PEI mussels in a Thai red coconut curry sauce. Pair it with a cabernet from Tawse winery in nearby Vineland, Ontario, and you’ve got a perfect date night.
5. Rayhoon Persian Eatery
Who says patio living has to be about pub food? Rayhoon Persian Eatery is a delight with halal, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options on the menu. Outdoor seating is the perfect place to try lamb kebabs marinated in a yogurt pepper sauce, joojeh chicken marinated in saffron, lemon, and spices. Located in the heart of Village Square, it’s a great place to pop in before a night out.
